Chase Elliott doesn’t have the speed, nor the trophy cabinet this season as his Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kyle Larson and William Byron. Elliott rarely leads the field, with just 76 laps led in 13 races throughout the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series campaign.

What Elliott does have, however, is consistency in the way he and his No. 9 team finish races. He did lead some laps at Kansas Speedway and picked up back-to-back top-six finishes in the All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600. May was overall a good month for Elliott. As the calendar has turned to June and the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway set for Sunday night, Elliott feels good about where he’s at.

“I think a product of a lot of hard work and just a collective effort of just trying to make some improvement and that’s always the goal. Just trying to keep chipping away and I think the team is in a really good spot,” Elliott said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “We had a really good week on pit road, they kept me in the game last week and they gave me two or three [positions] on every stop, and I’d give away five or six.

“It was a frustrating night on my end, but I thought the car performed really well and all the pieces to the puzzle were really in place. Just need to continuously work on my craft and make sure that I’m doing my part.”

Chase Elliott looking to snap winless streak

Elliott continues to grind out finishes despite not having the fastest car. He’s got seven top 10s and three top 5s this season, good for fourth in the points standings. The one thing Elliott hasn’t done is win. It’s been a bit since the 2020 Cup champion has seen Victory Lane, his last win coming last April at Texas Motor Speedway.

Elliott’s points race winless streak has reached 40. Elliott won The Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium to open up the year, but he would love to add a points race victory alongside it.

“Certainly better to be in that position than on the other side of the fence, no doubt,” Elliott said of his points position, via NASCAR.com. “But I’d be lying if I said that was my top focus. It’s just not. I think that if you’re worried about barely getting into the playoffs, I think you have some work to do.

“It really is kind of the best way I can think about that. And just to talk about my thought process, I want to be better than that. I want to be in the group of people of how many playoff points do you have, not just barely getting in. Our expectations and goals are above that, and we hope that we can achieve all of our goals.”
