When the green flag dropped for the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville, Chevrolet clinched the third NASCAR manufacturer championship of the season. They had already clinched the Xfinity and Truck Series titles. Now, they have the Cup Series for the trifecta.

The manufacturer’s championship is not decided by the playoff format like the driver and owner championships. It is a points-based championship for the top finisher of each manufacturer.

This is the 42nd time that Chevrolet has earned the NASCAR Cup Series manufacturer’s title. This is also the third year in a row that they have won the Cup Series title.

For all of their efforts in Cup, Xfinity, and Trucks, this is the fifth time they have swept the top three series. They also swept the titles in 1996, 1998, 2005, and 2012.

“Chevrolet is honored to win the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Manufacturer Championship for the third consecutive year and the 42nd time overall,” said Jim Campbell, General Motors U.S. Vice President of Performance and Motorsports, via Jayski.com. “This title is the result of great teamwork by the Chevrolet drivers, crew chiefs and teams working tirelessly throughout the season.”

This season was massive for Chevrolet in NASCAR. Out of 34 races, they picked up 17 wins with a chance to get two more. Kyle Larson is locked into the Championship 4 in his Chevy Camaro. William Byron has the most wins this season with 6. Don’t forget Shane van Gisbergen helped contribute to the title with his Chicago win.

Chevrolet celebrates NASCAR championships

There is a lot to be excited about for Chevy. The history the manufacturer has in the sport is immense. Adding to that history with championships like this, it shows that there is a bright future for Chevy and GM in NASCAR.

While the Camaro is going out the window in a couple of years, it’s exciting. What will be next after that? Chevrolet has been in NASCAR since the start and they are going to continue to play a big role.

“Winning the Manufacturer Championship in the NASCAR Cup Series is a remarkable achievement,” said Megan Brobeck, GM Racing Program Manager for the NASCAR Cup Series. “We are very proud of the dedication and cooperation among Chevrolet’s teams and engineers, and their efforts all season long paid off with this special honor. Congratulations to all who contributed to the championship for this much-deserved accomplishment.”

So, another year, another set of championships for Chevy. Can Larson or Byron earn them a driver’s championship?
