Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu left Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Ravens with an apparent knee injury. He was taken to the locker room for further evaluation and is currently questionable to return.

The play on which Omenihu was injured occurred with around three minutes remaining before halftime. He had one tackle and one sack prior to leaving the game.

“Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu is being taken into the locker room,” sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson said on the CBS broadcast. “He came off after the last drive in a lot of pain. They were looking at his right knee. He was showing a lot of frustration. Tried to walk it off. Tried to push off. Couldn’t do it. Slamming his helmet. He’s now heading to the locker room for further evaluation.”

Omenihu has been a major force on the Chiefs defensive line this season with 28 total tackles, seven sacks and two forced fumbles. He is in his first season in Kansas City after playing last season for the San Francisco 49ers. A former fifth-round pick out of Texas, he played his first two NFL seasons with the Houston Texans.

Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be good news for Charles Omenihu, who was ruled out due to the knee injury coming out of halftime. The Chiefs will now move forward without one of their key pieces on the defensive line and hope others are able to step up in his place.

Kansas City currently holds a 17-7 lead with 10:29 remaining in the third quarter.

Charles Omenihu gave away 90 Peacock subscriptions to watch Chiefs Wild Card game

The NFL and NBC made a polarizing choice in putting the Kansas City Chiefs-Miami Dolphins wildcard matchup on Saturday night at Arrowhead Stadium, airing the game exclusively on NBC’s Peacock streaming service. It was a decision that irked Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu.

So he took matters into his own hands, giving away 90 subscriptions to fans ahead of the weekend. He solicited fans to explain their case for a login on social media, picking the winners on Friday.

“Alright Chiefs Kingdom, I saw the comments and want y’all to be able to watch us play…So, I’m giving away 90 3-month Peacock memberships!” Omenihu, who wears No. 90, said.

At $6 monthly for three months, across 90 people, Omenihu is on the hook for around $1620 for the giveaway. Certainly a manageable price tag for an NFL player and worth it for Omenihu to help some fans catch the game.
