Chipper Jones isn’t taking his foot off the gas when it comes to his beef with Joey Logano. Jones, who criticized Logano for his radio tirade directed at Team Penske teammate Austin Cindric during last Sunday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway, took a fresh jab at the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion on Monday.

It all started after Logano won Sunday’s Würth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. Cindric arrived at Monday’s meeting wearing an Atlanta Braves hat, the team Jones spent the entirety of his Hall of Fame career with. Jones, whom Logano accused of “trying to be relevant” by calling him out, approved of the hat selection.

“Hahahahaha…..Mr. Irrelevant approves of this pic!” Jones wrote on X.

Cindric posted the picture under Jones’ tweet from the day prior, in which he congratulated Logano on his victory: “Congratulations to [Logano]. A HOF driver with a masterful win. This is what NASCAR fans expect from you. Hard charging wins and gracious top 5s and 10s. Well done!”

Logano’s initial frustration went back to the end of Stage 2 at Talladega. Multiple drivers and teams were vying for the stage win. Logano lost out to Bubba Wallace. It all happened after Cindric had to check up while trying to push Logano, who wasn’t happy afterwards: “Way to go Austin, way to go, you dumb fu*k! Way to fu*king go. What a stupid sh*t. You just gave it to him. Gave a Toyota a stage win. Nice job. Way to go. What a dumbass. Put that in the book again.”

That prompted a post from Jones on social media. Jones congratulated Cindric on his win at Talladega and took a shot at Logano.

“Congrats to [Cindric] on his [Talladega] win,” Jones tweeted. “Good teammates are hard to come by, Boss! Remember that one of urs MFed u on national tv, when in all actuality, u did everything possible to keep from wrecking him. Hate to be #dueces in the ‘team’ meeting on Monday.

“Some people are ‘hooray for our team as long as I’m the star’ as every team has them. Hendrick, RCR, JGR, Penske, etc. Sometimes karma is glorious. Enjoy this one! In case anyone is confused, lemme be clear…. [Logano].”

Logano responded last Tuesday during an appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, saying he didn’t care about Jones’ criticism. He followed up with more while speaking with the media at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

“I’m surprised that a professional athlete would act in that manner because he’s been through it,” Logano said, via Dustin Long of NBC Sports. “I am very careful to form an opinion on an athlete by their emotions or the way they play the game because I know from being in that position, when there’s that much on the line in a competitive environment, you act a certain way because you’re out there to win. And then you got to be able to shut that off.

“I would have assumed him being the athlete he is and was, that he would understand that and not mouth off on social media like somebody that’s never played the sport before. It’s surprising to me. All I can think is he’s trying to be relevant still or something like that.”
