Twice today, Christopher Bell spun out at Dover. The NASCAR driver somehow avoided further damage in both instances, but it sank his race. Bell led 67 laps today, but finished P18. His teammate, Denny Hamlin, went on to win.

It was strange to see Christopher Bell spin by himself early in the race. However, watching him do it in the closing laps of regulation was tough. That’s heartbreaking for any driver.

Still looking for that fourth win this season, Bell hasn’t won since March. Could that change soon? Perhaps. But today, things did not go Bell’s way.

“Yeah, I mean, I don’t know. I definitely wasn’t gonna lift, and I know he wasn’t gonna lift either, and we were going to race really hard. Just spun out,” Bell said on TNT after the race. “So, Dover and spinning out. I’ve got a problem with that. It’s a bummer. The guys did a really good job.

“I’m honestly proud of the effort that this team has put into trying ot improve the intermediate stuff has been a little bit hard for us, and the guy son this 20 team did a really good job of bringing really good pace this weekend, and felt like we were as strong as any of them. You know, we restarted on the front row with under 10 to go and had a shot at it. It didn’t work out, but we got a playoff point, and hopefully we can keep bringing that speed, and I’ll be in contention more often.”

Christopher Bell has had speed off and on this season. However, since his three wins in a row in the first month of the schedule, he has yet to win again. Hamlin has now won all four of his races this season, since Bell won his three.

This race was a little long. The weather delay definitely didn’t help. Racing was a bit lackluster and bland. That has more or less been the norm for Dover in the Next Gen era. But we got a few interesting wrecks and moments that changed the course of the race.

While Christopher Bell has not won in a few months, he has been one of the best drivers on the season. Don’t count him out yet. He could go on a strong playoff run that puts him in Phoenix.
