Cincinnati Bengals cut former LSU tight end Thaddeus Moss
The Cincinnati Bengals opted to release former LSU tight end Thaddeus Moss from the practice squad on Monday. The team moved him to the practice squad to make the 53-man roster cut last week.
Moss, the son of NFL Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss, hasn’t recorded a stat in the NFL since joining the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Most recently, the former Tiger was in the headlines due to a cut-block on first-rounder Kayvon Thibodeaux in the preseason game versus the New York Giants. The Oregon star will miss three-to-four weeks due to the injury he suffered on the play.
At LSU in 2019, Moss posted 47 receptions for 570 yards and four touchdowns. His play helped lead the team to a national title and vaulted his status as a potential NFL contributor as a senior.

Thaddeus Moss was with the Bengals in 2021, mostly with the practice squad. He was on the active roster for the game versus the Steelers in November but didn’t play after suffering a hamstring injury in warmups.
Along with Moss, the Bengals also made another move on Monday, waiving cornerback Allan George. George is a rookie out of Vanderbilt.
Joe Burrow good as new following surgery
Former LSU Tiger great Joe Burrow missed time in the preseason after having an appendectomy. Despite the surgery and missed practices, Ja’Marr Chase said the duo’s impeccable chemistry is still there.
“It’s just funny because every pass he threw today, I was calling it out before he threw it. So, I think I still know him perfectly fine right now,” Chase said via Ben Baby of ESPN.
Both Burrow and Chase have lived up to the hype and then some in their NFL careers thus far, propelling the Bengals to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1988.
In the 2021 regular season, Burrow completed 70.4 percent of his passes for 4,611 passing yards, while tossing in 34 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions. Not only that, Burrow performed at an incredibly high level behind one of the worst offensive lines in league history. He was sacked 70 times over a span of 20 games last year – third most in league history. Luckily for the former Heisman Trophy winner, the Bengals completely revamped their offensive line heading into this season.
The Bengals start the season versus the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
