Former LSU star, ESPN analyst makes plea on Joe Burrow's behalf

The Cincinnati Bengals are heading to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1988. Thanks to a legendary comeback from their quarterback, Joe Burrow, and the defensive play, a franchise that was 2-14 just two years ago will be playing football in February.
During the AFC Championship against the Kansas City Chiefs, ESPN analyst and former LSU Tigers player Marcus Spears was still asking for some extra help for Burrow. He wants Cincinnati to continue to work on the offensive line and protect their franchise quarterback.
“Cincy If y’all don’t get this man an Oline y’all dumb!,” Spears said on Twitter. “All the money Y’all have should not go to anyone under 310plus Lbs.”
There was a lot of criticism surrounding the Bengals’ first-round pick this last season, taking wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. Many wanted them to select offensive tackle Penei Sewell, who ended up falling to the Detroit Lions.
Chase ended up being the right selection, being one of the best wide receivers in the NFL this season. However, help will still be needed on the offensive line this offseason – Super Bowl appearance or not. Burrow was sacked nine times during the AFC Divisional round but the Bengals were able to power through. Changes will have to come.

If Cincinnati decides to build through the draft, their first-round pick will be at No. 31, at the very earliest. Free agency could be a possibility as well. Nonetheless, to sustain the success of this season, some big bodies will be needed to protect Burrow.
Joe Burrow credits defense after AFC Championship game
Even after winning the biggest game of his young NFL career, Burrow took time to credit his defense during a postgame interview. He said although they struggled on the offensive side of the ball, both units had great game plans in the second half.
“I mean our defense was unbelievable in the second half,” Burrow said to Tracy Wolfson postgame. “They had a great plan on the defensive side against us. We struggled a little bit (on offense). But we had a great plan in the second half. Unbelievable. I’m just a little speechless right now.”
Burrow finished with 23 completions in 38 attempts, good for 250 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, while throwing just one interception. Additionally, Burrow rushed for decent yardage on several second-half plays, amassing 25 rushing yards on the game.
Now, the next time you will see the quarterback play will be at SoFi Stadium in the Super Bowl.
