College Basketball National Championship Odd

This is March, which means it’s nearly time to start the NCAA Tournament and find out who will win the 2024 National Championship. But, first, the final weekend of conference play and then the conference tournaments are going to need to wrap up.

At this point in the season, different teams have different goals. Some are trying to improve their resumes so that they have a better shot to even make the NCAA Tournament. Others are looking to improve their spot in the Tournament, giving them an easier path to winning a national championship this season.

With that,  here are the teams that have the best odds to win the college basketball National Championship in 2024, per FanDuel:

UConn +500

The UConn Huskies are the defending college basketball national champions, so it’s not surprising that they’re one of the teams with the best odds to win this year’s championship too. It’s even less surprising to see where the Huskies are currently listed when you look at how dominant UConn has been this season. At 27-3 on the season, UConn has now won three in a row.

In their final game of the regular season, the UConn Huskies are set to take on the Providence Friars. The Big East has already been clinched for the regular season. Now, it’s about building momentum for postseason play.

Houston +700

In their first season in the Big 12, the Houston Cougars managed to win the conference in the regular season. It’s no small accomplishment in an incredibly competitive conference. It’s also something that has made Houston a very real championship contender this season.

Now the winners of eight games in a row, the Cougars are going to look to keep things going to end the regular season against Kansas. That’s going to be a tough game, but it does give Houston a chance to make up for an earlier season loss to the Jayhawks. A win there would certainly mean a lot heading into the postseason.

Purdue +700

The Purdue Boilermakers likely have the National Player of the Year in star center Zach Edey. On top of that, Purdue has also secured the Big Ten regular season championship after winning four games in a row. Now, the Boilermakers are looking to lock up a one-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Purdue will host Wisconsin on Sunday in a tough final game of the season. After that, the Boilermakers are turning their attention to the postseason. Along the way, expectations are going to remain high for Purdue as it makes its run through March.

Tennessee +1000

The Tennessee Volunteers have been at the top of a very competitive SEC all season long. Now, the winners of seven in a row, including against three different ranked teams, Tennessee clinched the SEC regular season crown with a win over South Carolina on Wednesday.

The Volunteers wrap up the regular season with another tough game, against rival Kentucky. Winning that game and keeping their momentum going is going to be big for the Volunteers, as Tennessee does seem to have a good shot at winning a national championship this season.

Arizona +1200

Since getting upset by Washington State, Arizona has bounced back and re-emphasized its place at the top of college basketball this season. That’s made the Wildcats the winners of nine out of their last 10 games. It’s also made Arizona one of the odds-on favorites to win a national championship.

Unlike most teams remaining, Arizona has two more regular season games to play instead of just one. They’re both away games, against UCLA and USC respectively. Those are both manageable games. However, it does mean that the Pac-12 regular season is still up for grabs.

North Carolina +2300

It’s never a surprise when North Carolina is one of the favorites to win a national championship. This year, in particular, the Tar Heels have tons of talent and veteran talent that’s going to be able to lead the team deep into March.

The Tar Heels currently hold a one-game lead over Duke in the ACC standings. They’ll play their traditional rival in the final game of the season on Saturday in a game that is always highly anticipated. It’ll be a rematch of their game from earlier this season when North Carolina came away with a win.

Duke +2300

Duke is still in the hunt for the ACC, with a chance to make up for an earlier season loss to rival North Carolina on Saturday. That game will be at Cameron Indoor Stadium and will be one of the most watched games of the day. It could also have a major impact on seeding come March.

The Blue Devils have been on a roll lately, winning eight out of nine games since that loss to the Tar Heels. They’ll look to continue building on that success heading into the postseason, starting with the ACC Tournament and then the NCAA Tournament.

Creighton +2500

The Big East has several talented teams sitting behind UConn this season, and Creighton is certainly one of them. In fact, Creighton is one of the few teams that’s proven that it’s capable of upsetting the Huskies this season, which means the Bluejays could beat anyone come March.

Creighton has now won five out of six games, including that win over UConn. With the season wrapping up on Saturday against Villanova, the Bluejays are going to try and keep winning and building up momentum to make a potential championship run.

Marquette +2500

Another one of those talented Big East teams, Marquette came up short against UConn for a second time this season on Wednesday. With that, the Golden Eagles dropped to 13-6 in Big East play, which is tied with Creighton for second in the conference standings. Still, this is an excellent team capable of making a championship run this year.

Marquette finishes the season with a road trip against Xavier. Winning that game and then making a deep run in the Big East Tournament would be huge for the Golden Eagles, potentially giving them a better seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Auburn +2500

The Auburn Tigers have been hard to ignore this season. That’s going to continue into March, with the Tigers looking to make noise in the SEC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament. They’re a very real threat, too, which is seen in Auburn’s current odds to win the national championship.

Auburn finishes the season with a home game against Georgia. The Tigers are coming into the game as the winners of four of their last six. Finishing strong could give Auburn the boost it needs going into the postseason.

Iowa State +2500

The Iowa State Cyclones have had an incredible season in one of the best basketball conferences in the country. They’re set to finish second this year in the regular season standings and have won four in a row. Now, they’re looking to build momentum going into postseason play.

Iowa State has some of the best odds to win a championship for a reason. Getting a win in the final game of the season against Kansas State before making a run in the Big 12 Tournament could go a long way in better positioning the Cyclones to make that deep run in March.
