Connor Zilisch spun from the lead while racing three-wide in Xfinity Series race at Mexico City

After such a great race leading up to the start of Stage 3, Connor Zilisch was spun from the lead as the field went three-wide. Daniel Suárez and Ty Gibbs made it three across with Zilisch on the inside of Turn 1. The 88 car did not make it out. This NASCAR Xfinity Series race just changed completely.
This whole incident has opened the door for Daniel Suárez to win this Mexico City race. The fans in the stands have to be loving that.
For Connor Zilisch, the dream day in Mexico comes to a rough end. He’s still in the race, but the damage to his car will likely keep him out of contention for the win the rest of the way. Gibbs ended up in the wall before it was all said and done. A lot of wrecked race cars.
The race went three-wide for the lead after Daniel Suárez jumped out to the outside down the straightaway. From there, it was jostling and fighting for position. Connor Zilisch went off the track, and when he came back on, he bumped the 19 of Ty Gibbs. From there, it was chaos.
Someone needed to back off at that point, and no one did. So, everyone ended up getting wrecked. From here, it is going to be Suárez’s race to lose. That is, if we don’t get another caution flag that causes another mess on the restart.

Connor Zilisch spun out, Daniel Suárez takes over in Mexico
The two best cars all day long were the 88 and 19. Connor Zilisch and Ty Gibbs are both incredibly aggressive race car drivers. That was on display on every restart and every pit stop made today.
That aggression is also why those two drivers are likely not going to get back to the front today. The CW broadcast claimed that 13 cars were involved in the restart wreck in total. And it sure looked like it.
If anything, we are going to see these drivers race angry. That will provide us with a lot of action on the track, but perhaps more chaos as well. The laps are ticking down and Daniel Suárez is trying his best to hold onto the lead and run away from the field.
If there is a late restart, that lead will be in jeopardy. Connor Zilisch will be waiting for any opportunity to jump on these drivers and strike.
