Connor Zilisch wins Pennzoil 250 at Indianapolis, third straight victory

What a win! Three in a row for Connor Zilisch in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and he looks unbeatable at this point. Zilisch recently turned 19 years old, and he’s already kissing the bricks to celebrate.
Connor Zilisch now has five wins on the season. COTA, Pocono, Sonoma, Dover, and Indianapolis. That is quite a collection of checkered flags.
In the last two months, Zilisch has won races that included Chase Elliott, Shane van Gisbergen, Aric Almirola, and Kyle Larson. It is hard to put that into perspective and just how impressive it is for anyone to win three in a row in the Xfinity Series.
Connor Zilisch led 19 laps today on his way to the win. Late in the race, rain and bad weather kept threatening to end this race early, just as it did at Dover. But the racing gods wouldn’t let that happen. We had to see this race go the distance. It was meant to be for JRM’s 100th win as an organization.
Justin Allgaier and Kyle Larson got into each other. This is the second time the Hendrick 17 car has taken Allgaier out of the lead late in a race to the benefit of Zilisch. The first time was Chase Elliott at Pocono.
With Larson and Allgaier more or less out of the way, Zilisch was able to take the lead. However, he had to fight off Gray on one final restart. Zilisch went on to lose the lead but with two laps to go took it back and charged to the finish to collect his third win in a row.

Connor Zilisch showed off today at Indianapolis
It feels like each week, we think we have seen all there is to see from Connor Zilisch. He beat Chase Elliott at Pocono. Then he beat SVG at Sonoma on a road course. He followed that up with a win over Aric Almirola at Dover and today, a win over Kyle Larson.
During the race, Zilisch was a great teammate. He didn’t lead the most laps, but might be the reason why Justin Allgaier did lead the most laps. There were moves that Zilisch made to push his teammate and get around other cars that I didn’t know he had in his bag.
For those who question whether or not Zilisch is ready for the Cup Series, stop it. He has clearly started to grow too big for another season in the Xfinity Series. His last nine races have resulted in four wins and no finishes worse than P5.
What more can you ask for from Connor Zilisch? Only 21 points out from the regular season championship lead, is it all coming together for this generational talent?
