The Dallas Cowboys have signed a small fraction of their free agents back for the 2024 roster but contract details for those signees are finally out. In the first days of free agency, Dallas has re-signed long snapper Trent Sieg, and cornerbacks Jourdan Lewis and CJ Goodwin. They each received new one-year deals.

Dallas signed Sieg last offseason to stabilize the special teams unit while employing a rookie placekicker. It worked out very well with the veteran playing all 18 games. The rookie kicker, Brandon Aubrey, went 37-for-39 on field goals and 50-for-53 on extra point attempts this season, including the playoff game against Green Bay.

For 2024, Sieg has signed for one year on a veteran salary benefits deal, according to ESPN’s Todd Archer. It’s worth $1.125 million, with $985,000 guaranteed and a $167,500 signing bonus. His contract will count $1.152 million against the 2024 salary cap.

Like Sieg, CJ Goodwin has also signed for one year on a veteran salary benefits deal. He also received a $167,500 signing bonus on a deal worth $1.2 million. During the 2023 season, Goodwin played in five games, tallying four tackles, before tearing his pectoral muscle in the Oct. 8 game against the San Francisco 49ers. He was the team’s special teams tackles leader in 2020 and 2021 and followed it up with an eight-tackle season in 2022.

Unlike his two teammates, Jourdan Lewis did not sign a veteran salary benefits deal. He inked a one-year deal for $2.8275 million. He has a $2.66 million base salary for 2024 with a bonus of $167,500. He counts $1.377 million against the cap.

Cowboys sign free agent LB Eric Kendricks

The Dallas Cowboys made their first outside signing in free agency on Wednesday, snagging linebacker Eric Kendricks out of the 49ers’ clutches at the 11th hour. Kendricks joins the Cowboys as he comes out of a one-year stint with the L.A. Chargers.

He was a second-round pick for the Minnesota Vikings in 2015 out of UCLA and he made an impact in every season before going to the Chargers in free agency last year. In 2023, he had 117 tackles in 15 games played, along with 3.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss and a forced fumble.

Kendricks started in all but three games he played for in Minnesota. From the time the linebacker was a rookie, he was an impact player. In 17 games in 2022, Kendricks recorded 137 tackles and eight tackles for a loss.

Dallas still has a lengthy list of free agents to consider re-signing, as well as multiple stars who are looking for contract extensions. The list of the Cowboys’ un-signed free agents includes Tyron SmithStephon GilmoreJayron KearseJohnathan HankinsChuma EdogaNoah Igbinoghene and Rico Dowdle.
