Cowboys safety Jayron Kearse sounds off on player frustration following OT loss to Packers

There’s a cloud of anger over the Dallas Cowboys practice facility this week after the overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers and safety Jayron Kearse, for one, is glad to see it.
Ahead of the Week 11 game versus his former squad, the Minnesota Vikings, Kearse unloaded about the defense’s frustration after failing to stop the Packers’ fourth-quarter comeback.
“You should be angry,” Kearse said, via the Athletics’ Jon Machota. “You should be frustrated. If you’re not, then I think we got the wrong guys on this defense, if you’re walking around like everything is fine. Knowing how things went for us last year against San Francisco, being a big reason on why we didn’t advance in the postseason last year. If you’re not frustrated, then we got the wrong guys on this defense. If you’re not mad, we got the wrong guys in this defense.

“It’s all about having a sense of urgency moving forward. We’re 6-3, the sky is not falling, but if you don’t have a sense of urgency moving forward with how last week went, the week before, the bye went then you need to gut check yourself and look in the mirror. … Everybody should be pissed off at how we lost that game.”
Kearse praises Justin Jefferson as league’s top receiver
The Cowboys safety knows his defense faces an even tougher challenge this Sunday versus the Vikings. He credited second-year wideout Justin Jefferson as the NFL’s best receiver right now “hands down.”

Last Sunday, the former LSU star had 10 catches for 193 yards and a touchdown, lifting Minnesota to an overtime win over the Bills.
“He gets open against everybody,” Kearse said. “He plays good against every opponent. Every top corner you put in front of him, he’s winning his individual matchups. The tape doesn’t lie.”
Last Sunday, the Cowboys defense allowed one receiver to dismantle their 14-point lead. Christian Watson scored three critical touchdowns on just four receptions for 107 yards. They’ll need to do a much better job clamping up Jefferson to win on the road this weekend.
