It could be a long 2023 season for the Arizona Cardinals if betting odds are to be believed.

Following the release of the NFL’s complete 2023 schedule, initial odds for games were released by Vegas — and they have the Cardinals losing every game. Vegas has their over/under win total set at 5.5, a number that many are choosing the under with.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the Cardinals will be winless this season. First-year head coach Jonathan Gannon’s best chance to string a few wins together will be between Week 10 through Week 12. They host the Atlanta Falcons (+1.5), are at the Houston Texans (+1.5) and then host the Los Angeles Rams (+2) in consecutive weeks — which are the three most winnable games for Arizona this season, according to Vegas.

If the Cardinals do end up being the first team in NFL history to be 0-17, it might be time to seriously consider trading franchise quarterback Kyler Murray. They would end up selecting No. 1 in the 2024 NFL Draft and have the opportunity to potentially acquire the services of reigining Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams. Though, that’s easier said than done as Murray recently began the first year of the five-year, $230.5 million dollar extension that he signed last offseason. The deal is guaranteed up to $189.5 million.

Still, the Cardinals aren’t giving up on the former No. 1 overall pick. Murray led Arizona to a 4-9 record as the starter before suffering a season-ending ACL tear. Before getting hurt, he totaled 2,786 total yards and 17 total touchdowns. Now, Murray’s mid-December injury has him expected to miss the start of the season while he recovers — which is apparent given the larger discrepancies in odds for Arizona’s early-season games.
