Dak Prescott on trying to catch Eagles in NFC East: 'I'm going to root against them regardless'
The Dallas Cowboys are not quite dead yet in the NFC East race. A lot must go their way, including the final four games of the season. Dallas must win out and hope Philadelphia stumbles along the way in order to win the division. Not an ideal position to be in but still a fighting chance.
Sunday brings a matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Ahead of the primetime matchup, quarterback Dak Prescott was asked how he handles the emotions of his own game while watching the Eagles in hopes of a loss.
Prescott knows there is only one of those things he can control. However, rooting against Philadelphia does not come too difficult for him.
“I just got to go win every game,” Prescott said via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “That’s all I can control. I’m gonna root against them regardless, whether we were in this position or not.”
Dallas is coming off a loss to the Detroit Lions, one the franchise desperately needed. Thankfully, Philadelphia losing on Monday night kept the door open for the time being. Prescott hopes to continue his good form at home vs. Minnesota, another team fresh off a defeat.

A win for the Cowboys and an Eagles loss usually equates to a pretty good day for Prescott. Exactly where the two fall in the rankings does not matter too much. Spending 10 years in the rivalry will bring it out of you.
More on push from Dallas Cowboys to take NFC East from Philadelphia Eagles
With how loaded the NFC is at the moment, the easiest path for Dallas into the playoffs appears to be the division. It’s still a steep hill for them to climb, needing a perfect record down the stretch, and Philadelphia finds a way to lose two games. From the outside, neither team has too tough a schedule ahead of them.
The Eagles are set to face off against the Las Vegas Raiders. It’s one that almost everyone expects Philadelphia to win, even with the team’s struggles. A big bounce back is needed, specifically from Jalen Hurts and the offense. Playing at home only helps the matter.
Kickoff from Lincoln Financial Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Dallas plays on Sunday Night Football, meaning they will already know the Philadelphia result before taking the field. Maybe some pregame viewing takes place between Prescott and the rest of the Cowboys.
