Dak Prescott reveals plans for speaking to Jerry Jones over George Pickens future with Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott clearly wants the team to bring back wide receiver George Pickens for the 2026 season and beyond. While speaking to reporters on Thursday, Prescott revealed that he plans to speak to Jerry Jones about signing Pickens to a new contract.
“I’ve been a little busy, but I will,” Dak Prescott said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “When I run into him in that time of privacy, I’ll make sure.”
When CeeDee Lamb went down with an injury earlier this season, George Pickens stepped up and became Prescott’s top target. The former Georgia Bulldogs receiver has caught 32 passes and recorded 525 yards and an NFL-leading six receiving touchdowns this year.
Pickens spent his first three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In May, the Steelers traded Pickens to the Cowboys, as the veteran wide receiver is in the final year of his rookie contract.
This week, Pickens talked about returning to the Cowboys next year. “I wouldn’t mind it,” Pickens said, Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com. “The guys in the locker room are super cool, the energy is great. I always want to showcase my talents.”

Will Jerry Jones extend George Pickens?
On Tuesday, Jones was asked about signing Pickens to a new deal. “We’ll weigh that,” he said. “We knew full well that if things really went like we want them to go, that certainly we need to think about having some room available if we’re going to pay a second receiver at that level.”
Despite being in the final year of his contract, Pickens is not in a hurry to get a contract from the Cowboys. The focus for the Alabama native is helping the team win games and reach the playoffs.
“I’m definitely in the middle of the season, so I’m not fully, fully thinking about it,” Pickens said. “I just want to keep going and see how far we can get in the season as far as playoffs and stuff like that.”
The Cowboys are coming off a 30-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers, and their record is currently 2-3-1. Entering Week 7 of the season, the Cowboys are third in the NFC East and 13th in the NFC.
