WATCH: Dak Prescott sends message to Mississippi State fans ahead of Week 1 matchup

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is the unquestionably the most decorated player in Bulldog football history. So, it was only fitting for him to deliver a message to the Mississippi State fan base ahead of their Week 1 matchup on Saturday against the Memphis Tigers. He had a message for fans on his Twitter page on Thursday night, reminding them that Friday is College Colors Day across America.
“It’s about that time and College Color Days is tomorrow. So you know me, I will be repping my alum, Mississippi State with my maroon on. And I hope to see all the Bulldog family repping their maroon for the first maroon Friday and the first Saturday back in Starkvegas. Maybe I’ll see you there. Hail State!” Prescott said in the video.
Prescott owns over 30 career records at Mississippi State and he firmly cemented his place as one of the best players in college football history during his time there. He became one of just four players in FBS history and just the second player in Southeastern Conference history (2007 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow is the other) to throw for 70 touchdowns and rush for 40 touchdowns in a career. Also, he became just one of 10 players in FBS history to pass for 8,500 yards and rush for 2,000 yards in his career.
Will Rogers is the next great Mississippi State quarterback
Luckily for Mississippi State fans, they’ve got an ultra-accurate quarterback coming up through the ranks and he’s going to pepper his name all over the program record books once he hangs up his cleats.

Will Rogers has a chance to be one of the best quarterbacks that Mike Leach has ever coached and that’s saying something, considering the number of gifted signal-callers that have been developed in his famous “Air Raid” offensive attack over the years. He posted some mind-boggling stats last year as a sophomore for the Bulldogs, throwing for 4,739 passing yards (third most in SEC single-season history) in his second year as the starting quarterback in Starkville. Heading into his junior season, ESPN’s Greg McElroy recently broke down the uber-talented signal-caller on his podcast, “Always College Football” and he mentioned another really impressive stat on Rogers from the 2021 season.
“And if you look, too, at his adjusted completion percentage. I referenced the fact that he completed nearly at least 74 percent of his passes. But when you take out the drops. You take out the balls batted at the line of scrimmage. That adjusted completion percentage was just above 81 percent. That’s the third highest in the SEC since 2014. The other two that were above that–Mac Jones in 2020. He was just over 84 percent and Joe Burrow, who was just under 82 percent in 2019. Obviously, both those two guys both Heisman finalists. Those two guys ran a little bit different offensive style. But either way, adjusted completion percentage over 81 percent. You’re doing what you’ve gotta do, Will Rogers. I think you have a chance to take the next step here in 2022,” McElroy said.
