At Dover, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was spotted double fisting what appeared to be beer in each hand as Connor Zilisch was named the winner. Turns out, Dale Jr. had a beer and a jar of pickles. So…why did he have those things?

On The CW broadcast, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was caught with his hands full. A beer and a jar of pickles, what more could you want after watching your driver win at the Monster Mile?

This week on the Dale Jr. Download, Earnhardt was asked about his post-race celebration. Dale Jr. explained the pickles first.

“So, there’s an orchard about two hours from Dover that I get pickles from, they do not ship,” Earnhardt said. “So, it’s hard to get them. You either gotta know somebody that’s passing through or you gotta get them yourself. A race fan knows that I like these, and they brought them to the race track, and she was behind our pit during the race. I was on top of the 1 box during the race, listening to Carson Kvapil and his team. … So, she comes to the pits and she’s like, pickle lady here. So, I got the pickles and I just hung onto them. And you know, we won the race.”

Now, where did he get the beer? That answer is a little bit less confusing, but it is still kind of confusing. How did he end up with a beer in his hand that quickly after the rain-shortened finish?

“I’m standing down on pit road with Mardy Lindley, the crew chief of the 88 for Connor Zilisch. We’re talking about what we’re going to do if we go back to green. You know, do we pit for tires, do we wait and save our tires?” Dale Earnhardt Jr. continued. “Well, they called the race, so I just walked right into Victory Lane. Because that’s where everybody’s going. Well, the guys, they had all this Busch Light stacked up perfectly in these pyramids, right? So there’d be a nice backdrop for the driver getting out of the car.

“There’s guys in there and they’re unstacking all this beer and putting it into these big beer coolers. I’m like, alright, they’re moving Victory Lane to another location, which would be the Cup garage. And they’re putting all this beer in these coolers, you know, wheel them over there. But I just grabbed a beer, I’m like, I’m just going to take one now. So, I grab a beer and I’m walking down pit road to get to the Cup garage to Victory Lane, where they’re going to have it. And I had the pickles and the beer.”

No matter where you go, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is ready to party. Beer, pickles, and a Miles the Monster trophy is all you need to have a good time.
