Xfinity Series driver Jeremy Clements will run a Dale Earnhardt Jr. throwback paint scheme in this Saturday’s Round of 12 finale at the Charlotte Roval.

Clements’ No. 51 Chevrolet will feature the green and white Amp Energy scheme which Earnhardt used in 2008, his first season with Hendrick Motorsports.

“We’re thrilled to have Whitaker joining us this weekend,” Clements said in a statement. “They’ve been incredible supporters of JCR over the years, and we’re grateful for their strong partnership. I’m always excited to see the throwback paint scheme that Ryan [Whitaker] brings to the track, and again, he’s nailed it with this awesome Dale Jr. Flashback!”

Suffice to say, this hotrod is Earnhardt-approved.

“Man this is awesome,” Earnhardt wrote on X. “And even wilder because in 2008 we had considered using the 51 if the 88 wasn’t an option. Jeremy is always having fun this these throwbacks.”

Earnhardt’s first win with Hendrick came at Michigan during that 2008 season while driving the No. 88 Amp Energy Chevrolet. It was the NASCAR Hall of Famer’s only victory with Amp Energy, but a memorable one nonetheless.

If Clements had it his way, he’d have a similar performance this Saturday. The 39-year-old is a veteran of the Xfinity Series, with 491 starts under his belt dating back to 2003. Clements has run full-time for his own race team since 2011, picking up two victories in that timeframe (Road America, 2017, Daytona, 2022).

Clements has finished 16th, 12th, 14th and 23rd in four prior starts at the Charlotte Roval.

“We’ve always been pretty good here,” Clements said. “And we’re confident that we’ll put on a great show and get the Whitaker Chevy to the front.”
