Dallas Cowboys arrive at Allegiant Stadium wearing t-shirts in honor of late Marshawn Kneeland

The Dallas Cowboys on Monday will be playing in their first game since the death of Marshawn Kneeland. The defensive end died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Nov. 6.
Ahead of their Week 11 road matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, Kneeland’s teammates arrived at Allegiant Stadium wearing t-shirts in honor of him. The NFL‘s X account posted video showing quarterback Dak Prescott in the t-shirt.
The Cowboys plan to wear the t-shirts in pregame warmups for next week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, their first home game since Kneeland’s passing. They also plan to honor Kneeland for the rest of the season by wearing a special helmet decal.
Kneeland is still very much on the minds of everyone within the organization. Back on the practice field for the first time this past Tuesday, Prescott revealed his mindset through the period. He admitted there were moments where Kneeland came to mind. But football is “medicine” for Prescott, something that’s been consistent through his whole life.
“It was great. [Brian Schottenheimer] said it earlier in the week, some guys are going to get on the field and it’s going to hurt,” Prescott said “And some guys are going to get out there and it’s going to be the best medicine for them. Having dealt with a loss, that is the best medicine for me.

“Getting back out there, handing the ball off and sprinting an extra 10 yards, and making sure I’m doing it hard. Marshawn went through my mind a few times. I just counted that with running harder after a play or trying to do something to better this team and to show that.”
Cowboys honoring Marshawn Kneeland in multiple ways
Monday will see the return of linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, coming off a torn ACL which has kept him sidelined for nearly an entire calendar year. Overshown talked about Kneeland and how he plans to honor him in his first game back.
“I don’t take it lightly,” Overshown said this past week, via the team’s website. “I don’t take it lightly at all. And, you know, this is one of the best ways we can honor him, by continuing his dream, continuing his legacy and what he wanted that to be — to play hard, 60 minutes straight, win ball games, and smile while doing it.
“Having that internal motivation, knowing my teammates, knowing this is a guy that we counted on big, big time. So, we’ve got to do our job to fill those footsteps, to fill those cleats. And that’s by running, hitting hard, scoring touchdowns, making plays like Marshawn Kneeland. I don’t take that lightly. So that’s exactly what I’m going to do Monday with the plays I get.”
