The Dallas Cowboys lost cornerback Stephon Gilmore ahead of halftime on Sunday as they led the Washington Commanders. Gilmore was ruled questionable after suffering a shoulder injury on a tackle as the Commanders moved down the field.

Though the veteran had to exit the field after visiting the blue medical tent, the Cowboys made up for his loss almost immediately. Safety Donovan Wilson notched an interception on Washington QB Sam Howell, making it two in back-to-back weeks for the former Texas A&M star. On top of an interception, the Cowboys have also had a forced fumble and recovery on Sunday against the Commanders.

Taking the field with a 14-10 lead, Dak Prescott led the offense down the field on a six-play drive. They capped it with a four-yard touchdown from Prescott to CeeDee Lamb.

With a two-score lead going into the second half, the Cowboys could choose to keep Gilmore out of the game, regardless of his status. With the Eagles trailing the Giants by 24 points, Dallas is two quarters away from securing the NFC East title.

The Cowboys added Stephon Gilmore this summer in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts. In exchange for a fifth-round pick, the Dallas defense picked up a veteran to play opposite Trevon Diggs. The addition became even more important after Diggs suffered a season-ending injury. Now, Gilmore’s had 62 tackles with two interceptions for the Cowboys this season.

Brandon Aubrey’s streak ends at 35 made FGs for Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey was attempting to break the NFL’s streak for perfect kicks in a season on Sunday against the Washington Commanders. Instead, the rookie kicker’s streak ended at 35 kicks after a 32-yard field goal attempt was blocked and returned to the Dallas 29-yard line.

Aubrey needed just two more makes to tie the record of 37 consecutive made kicks in a single season. Instead, his streak ends at 35. He ties the No. 2 kicker in the record book, former Vikings star Gary Anderson who kicked 35 straight in 1998. The record holder is Mike Vanderjagt of the Colts. He made 37 field goals in 2003.

Aubrey already owns the NFL’s record for consecutive field goals made to start an NFL career. Against the Rams, he tied Cleveland Browns kicker Travis Coons’ league record, set in 2015, for consecutive makes to start a career with 18. He surpassed Coons to set the new league record of 19 makes with a 51-yarder against the Philadelphia Eagles. Since then, he’s extended the record to 35 makes to start a career.
