Cowboys safety Jayron Kearse enjoyed a little laugh at the Eagles’ expense on this video. On the play, Kearse wraps up Eagles receiver Jalen Reagor and rides him out of bounds on an attempted screen pass. As he is forcing him out of bounds, Philadelphia tight end Dallas Goedert grabs ahold of the safety and tries to shove him off of Reagor, while out of bounds. The only problem was one of the Eagles’ staff members was there to take the majority of that impact, flying back into a large sideline fan.

By this time in the game, the outcome was pretty much decided with the Cowboys leading 34-14 and nine minutes left in the game, and many of the Philadelphia players were visibly frustrated at this point. Kearse picked up on the frustration saying at the top of the tweet, “Mr. Goedert was angry with me for some reason.”

The Cowboy’s suffocating D

The Eagle’s offense had plenty of reasons to be upset, as the Cowboys’ defense stifled them the entire game. Dallas gave up 367 yards, 303 through the air, but that was about all the offensive success the Eagles enjoyed. Philadelphia finished the game with 12 first downs on 12 offensive drives. In comparison, the Cowboys had 27 first downs on 13 offensive drives. They completed four of twelve third-down attempts for a 33% conversion rate. And on their fourth-down conversions, they failed to complete either one of the two.

The Philadelphia offense was responsible for just two of the three touchdowns scored. Both scores came in the second half. The Cowboys defense pitched a first-half shutout against the Eagles. A fumble by Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was the Eagles’ only points in the first half.

The Eagles fell apart

As a team, they became unraveled in the mental execution part of the game. Philadelphia had a whopping 13 penalties called on them for 86 yards. They also lost the turnover battle for the first time this season after Hurts threw two interceptions. One of them, corner Trevon Diggs returned for a touchdown.

It was unfortunate that an Eagles staffer was on the receiving end of the biggest hit of the night by Philadelphia. But with the Dallas defense showing up in a big way against their NFC East rivals, it is understandable why Mr. Goedert was so angry on this play.
