Davante Adams trade rumors: Cowboys insider responds to reported Dallas interest

On Tuesday, reports surfaced that Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams notified the franchise that he’d prefer to be traded and join a new team this season. Which was quickly followed with rumors and speculation of which teams would put together a trade package and attempt to aquire the former All-Pro pass catcher.
The Dallas Cowboys were one of several teams linked to Adams as a potential landing spot for the premier wide receiver. A report that Cowboys insider Clarence Hill Jr. denied on Wednesday following 24 hours filled with plenty of rumors.
“I was told the Cowboys have shown no interest in trading for Devante Adams,” Hill tweeted on Wednesday. “To no surprise of anyone.”
Dallas is seemingly always attached to premiere players who are eligible to be acquired by a new team. And it does not get much more premier than Adams at the wide receiver position, who has put together four straight 1,000-yard seasons and would join a new team with three First-Team All-Pro and six Pro Bowl selections in his career. Leading the league in touchdown receptions in 2020 and 2022.

According to SportsTrac, the Cowboys have $25 million in cap space ranking seventh most in the NFL currently. But the passing game is not exactly where Dallas needs help at the moment offensively, boasting the fourth-best passing offense in the NFL with Dak Prescott ranking third in the NFL with 1,072 passing yards so far this season.
Not to mention the Cowboys making wideout CeeDee Lamb to a four-year, $136 million contract heading into the season that made him the second-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. Giving him a $38 million signing bonus that is the largest in league history given to a wide receiver.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Washington Commanders, and others remain as franchises that could be interested in striking up a trade for Adams. A move that could definitely serve as the biggest in-season trade of the year when things are all said and done.
