Cowboys-Giants Week 10 16.5-point spread is largest in NFL in 2023 season

The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants have seasons going in completely opposite directions, which explains why the Las Vegas oddsmakers have assigned the largest point spread of the season to Sunday’s game in AT&T Stadium. Dallas, the home team, is the 16.5-point favorite for the late afternoon game against their NFC East rivals.
There were a myriad of factors for the oddsmakers to consider when assigning the opening odds. First, the Cowboys defeated the Giants in the season-opener in New York 40-0. It was a dominant performance that spelled doom for the Giants’ season.
Next, New York lost quarterback Daniel Jones for the season last week as the former Duke star suffered an ACL tear against the Raiders. Jones has been repeatedly banged up all season long behind one of the worst offensive lines in league history. He’s suffered a number of different injuries and while it seemed inevitable for him to get seriously injured, it doesn’t make it any easier to stomach for Giants fans.
The Giants offensive line has allowed 49 total sacks in nine games, according to StatMuse. That ranks them dead last in the National Football League. The Giants’ issues at quarterback and with the offensive line has resulted in New York posting the fewest points per game in the league this season (11.2 ppg).
Once Jones exited the game on Sunday, former Syracuse quarterback Tommy DeVito took his place, throwing a touchdown and two interceptions in the blowout loss.

Giants’ backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor is currently on injured reserve with a rib injury, which means DeVito will get the call again on Sunday against Dallas.
Cowboys heavily favored vs Giants after loss to Eagles
Lastly, the Cowboys, despite coming off of a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, have been hot on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Dak Prescott had one of the best games of his career last Sunday, throwing for 374 passing yards with three touchdowns while throwing no interceptions and taking five sacks.
Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had a career day with 191 yards on 11 receptions. Meanwhile, second-year tight end Jake Ferguson also had the most productive game of his career yet with 91 yards on seven receptions and one touchdown catch.
While the Giants fight to reclaim some meaning for their season, the Cowboys have every reason to win their next four games. Since they’re currently 2.5 games back from Philadelphia, they need to win against the Giants, Panthers, Commanders and Seahawks to have a chance to overtake the Eagles before their rematch in December.
