Dallas Cowboys players get into fight during training camp practice

Two Dallas Cowboys players got into a fight during a training camp practice on Wednesday. Jon Machota of The Athletic captured the fight, but it’s not clear which two players were involved. Once the fight began, the rest of the team rushed to the two players to break it up.
Fights are normal during training camp as the players get tired of hitting other teammates in the heat. Also, training camp is an opportunity for rookies to prove themselves to coaches so they can be on the initial 53-man roster, making the stakes high for some young players.
The Cowboys are facing a lot of pressure heading into the 2024 season. After finishing 12-5 in the last three seasons, fans are ready for the team to take the next step. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy talked about wide receiver Brandin Cooks providing veteran leadership.

“I mean, you can’t put a price tag on it,” McCarthy said, per KSAT.com. “It’s definitely something that you want throughout your whole locker room. And Brandon is a tremendous example of that and really has been since day one. I don’t know if I’ve seen too many guys that walk in here, you know, from another team do that, that really had the respect, you know, of the locker room. I mean, both him and Stephon (Gilmore) last year were exceptional in that area. So yeah, you can’t have enough of it. And it’s really cool to see him give back and, and really helped his younger receivers.”

McCarthy also talked about Zack Martin helping younger offensive linemen during camp. “He’s awesome, at number one. And, yeah, I can’t promote it enough,” McCarthy said. “I mean, I’m a huge believer in that, just, you know, as long as I’ve been in this league that, your best players have always been your smartest, most instinctive players. You can’t play at that level in this league without it. So, I mean, they’re all extremely talented. They’re all special, they’re gifted, and so forth. But the instincts, awareness, the intelligence, the professionalism, and he’s (Martin) definitely an outstanding role model.”
The Cowboys will kick off the season on Sunday, Sept. 8, when they face the Cleveland Browns in a road contest. Their first home game will be on Sunday, Sept. 15 against the New Orleans Saints.
