Dallas Cowboys reportedly discussed contract extension with Trevon Diggs

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to ink star defensive back Trevon Diggs to a long-term deal this offseason.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the former Alabama Crimson Tide star could be seeing big money in the near future, as the Cowboys could reset the cornerback market with an extension for Diggs.
“The Dallas Cowboys and their talented cornerback Trevon Diggs have been in discussing a possible contract extension in recent weeks,” wrote Dov Kleiman of BroBible. “ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on SportsCenter that the Cowboys have had ‘some’ preliminary talks with Diggs about a potential new deal. With his exceptional performance over the past three seasons, Diggs has solidified himself as one of the premier cornerbacks in the league.
“Fowler noted that the market value for top cornerbacks currently hovering around $21 million per year, it remains to be seen how close Diggs can get to that figure in the coming months.”
Since coming into the NFL in 2020, Diggs has evolved into one of the top defensive backs in the entire league, accumulating 17 interceptions and 49 pass deflections while shutting down one half of the football field. The Cowboys would certainly want him to stay for the long-term, and it looks like they’re on their way to making it happen.
Trevon Diggs will continue playing some fantastic defense in Dallas, and become a very rich man because of it, and it looks like that’ll happen in the coming weeks.
Trevon Diggs predicts Cowboys will make Super Bowl
In other news, Trevon Diggs is calling his shot. The 2023 NFL season is still months away, but the Pro Bowl cornerback predicts the Dallas Cowboys will play in Super Bowl LVIII.
Dallas made a plethora of changes to the coaching staff in the offseason after another disappointing playoff run. Apparently, it’s enough to give Diggs the confidence to make a bold prediction … publicly.

On Thursday, Diggs took to Twitter simply to say, “we going to that bowl.” So, go ahead and get your trip to Las Vegas planned now, Cowboys fans.
It’s been quite some time since the Cowboys have competed for a championship. The last time Dallas played in a Super Bowl happened after the 1995 regular season. So, a trip to the biggest game of the year would end nearly a 30-year drought.
Mike McCarthy has led the Cowboys to back-to-back 12-5 seasons, finishing first in the NFC East in 2021 and second in the division last year. However, that regular season success didn’t translate into the postseason.
The San Francisco 49ers have ended Dallas’ season each of the past two years — doing so in the NFC Wild Card two years ago and in the Divisional Round last season. So, a lengthy playoff run would be welcomed for the Cowboys.
Despite the recent postseason failures, Diggs seems to be confident the Cowboys can get it done in 2023.
