The Dallas Cowboys are lining up top-30 prospect visits ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft. On Monday, they added former Ole Miss star Jonathan Mingo to their growing list of visitors.

Mingo, 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, posted the best stats of his career with the Rebels in 2022. He had 51 catches for 861 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged an impressive 16.9 yards per catch in Lane Kiffin’s offense.

Although most of the Cowboys’ top-30 visitors at the receiver position have first or second-round projections, Mingo is most likely a third-round or even day three prospect. He’s the No. 15 best-available wideout, according to the ESPN draft board.

After getting a big boost already early in the free agency window, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is feeling confident about the upcoming draft. Dallas currently has seven picks to work with later this month – one in each round.

“We’ve got ourselves in real good shape to get us some picks that can play immediately,” Jones said. “And that’s the goal here. If you get yourself in a position where you can draft some players you can put on the field, and be a position selective a little bit, you’re doing it (right). Now you never want to pass on the guy you ought to be taking, but still be position selective. And that’s, I think, where we are. I feel good that we can take any position there.”

Other prospects the Cowboys have coming into the Star are Quentin Johnston, Zay Flowers and Josh Downs.

Mingo impresses at scouting combine, Pro Day

After a strong showing at the Combine in Indianapolis, Mingo did not participate in many of the speed drills at Pro Day last week. He did, however, do the 20-yard shuttle (4.27 seconds) and the three-cone drill (7.02). He was happy with his performances in the 40-yard dash and other drills at the Scouting Combine.

“Yeah, I did better than people thought I was going to do,” Mingo said. “I knew once my body got healthy I knew I could do fast times, show them I could run the whole route tree. The combine was easy. So today I only had to do cone drills, show them I could do cone drills, and run routes. I’ve been running routes my whole life so I feel like it was a breeze.”

Mingo had the 16th-best 40-yard dash among receivers at the Scouting Combine with a time of 4.46 seconds.
