Dallas Cowboys sign veteran WR Parris Campbell to practice squad

The Dallas Cowboys are signing veteran wide receiver Parris Campbell to the practice squad, the franchise announced. He previously signed with the franchise in March before his release in August, when he suffered a leg injury.
Campbell spent last season with the Philadelphia Eagles before agreeing to a one-year contract with the Cowboys. However, he suffered an injury during training camp and was released with a settlement.
Last year with Philadelphia, Campbell appeared in five games, totaling five receptions for 30 yards after getting the call-up from the practice squad. The Indianapolis Colts selected him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and he spent four years with the franchise before joining the New York Giants in 2023.
Parris Campbell’s signing to the practice squad comes after the Colts signed linebacker Buddy Johnson, opening up a spot. He could also provide a depth piece for Dallas, which is still dealing with the absence of CeeDee Lamb due to a high ankle sprain.
Lamb went down in a Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears and, after briefly returning, stayed on the sidelines. The expectation was he would miss time, and did not suit up in last week’s tie against the Green Bay Packers. ESPN’s Todd Archer reported Lamb could miss three to four weeks due to the injury.

Last week’s game was one of the most anticipated on the NFL schedule as the Cowboys welcomed the Packers to AT&T Stadium. It marked the return of Micah Parsons for the first time since Dallas traded him to Green Bay in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Parsons had one sack, which came in a key moment and likely prevented a game-winning touchdown, as the Packers and Cowboys ended in a 40-40 tie.
It was a unique result, especially considering the hype around the matchup. In fact, Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens – who had a huge performance – said he didn’t realize a game could even end in a tie.
“I’ve never been a part of a tie in my life. I didn’t even know football worked like that,” Pickens told Jane Slater of NFL Network. “I thought we just would start another quarter right now and keep going. But a tie? That’s a first time, yeah.”
