Dallas Turner smacks DK Metcalf amid Vikings vs. Steelers standoff in Dublin

Dallas Turner slapped DK Metcalf in his helmet during the fourth quarter between the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers. Turner was penalized for unnecessary roughness during the play, tacking 15 yards onto the Steelers drive.
Turner was jawing with one of Metcalf’s teammates when the Steelers WR appeared to grab Turner’s face mask. This prompted Turner to strike Metcalf, leading to the flag. Metcalf was not called for a penalty during the incident.
The penalty would not have any effect on the game’s outcome, as the Steelers were turned over on downs at the Minnesota 3-yard-line later in the drive. Though, the fourth down stop near the goal line helped put the Vikings in position to score touchdown on their next drive.
In the end, Pittsburgh would hold strong on defense during the final possession of the game. Its pass-rush, along with some self-inflicted wounds by the Vikings led to the Steelers to take the 24-21 win in Dublin.
The bit of drama came amid Metcalf’s best game yet as a Steeler. He caught five passes for 126 yards and one touchdown. The touchdown came on an 80-yard reception from QB Aaron Rodgers, who passed for 200 yards during the game.

Prior to Sunday’s international matchup, Metcalf had 135 receiving yards and two touchdowns to his credit through three games. Now, he’s jumped RB Jaylen Warren as the team’s leading receiver.
For Turner, he finished the game with four tackles, including one solo. The second-year linebacker out of Alabama is looking to be a regular fixture to the Vikings defense, and has almost halfway matched his totals from one year ago as a rookie.
The victory improves the Steelers to 3-1 during Rodgers’ first season in Pittsburgh. The lone loss came in Week 2 against the Seahawks, and the Steelers have now won its last two games. Pittsburgh will take on divisional foes in the Cleveland Browns (home) and Cincinnati Bengals (away) during its next two games following a bye during Week 5.
For the Vikings, they’re 2-2 and will head back to Minnesota with a tough loss. Still, backup QB Carson Wentz threw for 350 yards and two touchdowns (as well a two picks), which is a good sign. He’s filling in for second-year QB JJ McCarthy as he recovers from a high right ankle sprain. The Vikings stay international next week, taking on the Browns in London.
