Daniel Dye named 2025 Comcast Community Champion of the Year
On Monday after NASCAR Championship weekend, Daniel Dye was named 2025 Comcast Community Champion of the Year. For those who have followed Dye’s career, his support and activism for the Race to Stop Suicide has been a prominent part of his career.
The Race to Stop Suicide was created in 2018 by Daniel and his father, Randy Dye. Through the work that the group and the Dye family have done over the years, they have raised awareness and helped break the stigma around mental health and suicide.
As the Comcast Community Champion of the Year, Dye has been awarded $60,000, which will go to the Race to Stop Suicide. A panel selects a winner each year out of three finalists, including the previous year’s winner. Erik Jones was the 2024 CCCY and helped select Dye this year.
“I’m super proud that this mission is getting talked about more — it means a lot to me, to my family, and to our communities,” Dye said of the award. “Being named the Comcast Community Champion is a big deal, and the fact that we’re able to raise more awareness is really what it’s all about. This isn’t a race you can ever truly win, but we’re doing everything we can to run up front and be leaders in this mission.”
Each year, Daniel Dye hosts the March to Stop Suicide. The walk is held at Daytona International Speedway for a total of 98 minutes and 8 seconds. That is to honor the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. In 2025, the event raised $230,000 for Beyond the Brotherhood, a nonprofit helping Navy SEALs transition back to life as civilians and supporting them with other mental health resources.

Daniel Dye selected among trio of finalists
While Daniel Dye was picked as the 2025 CCCY, there were two great finalists. Wayne Auton, former Director of the NASCAR Xfinity Series, was a finalist. Jerry Caldwell, President of Bristol Motor Speedway, was also a finalist. For their efforts, they will both receive $30,000 for their respective charities – Speedway Children’s Charities – Bristol Chapter and The Corner Table.
With so many great causes, it is hard to pick just one. Dye won this year, but it easily could have been Auton or Caldwell. There are so many people doing charitable work in the sport. It is amazing they can even come up with three finalists, let alone a winner.
Daniel Dye is young. He has a bright future ahead of him. Not just on the track but outside of racing. To be doing the work he’s doing behind the wheel and behind the scenes is admirable.
Dye’s connection to the cause is incredibly personal. He is dedicated to the work he does and to promoting the Race to Stop Suicide. If you see him race, it is on his car, his firesuits, his helmets, inside his car. You can’t miss it. Congratulations to Daniel on the award. He will be a fitting champion.
