Daniel Suárez, Chase Briscoe trigger multi-car wreck during Coke 600, sends Kyle Larson to garage

This is a nightmare of a Double attempt for Kyle Larson. Daniel Suárez and Chase Briscoe triggered a multi-car wreck in Stage 3. Ryan Blaney, Justin Haley, and Kyle Larson all took damage and will go to pit road or the NASCAR garage for repairs.
Zane Smith wrecked to bring out the caution. On the ensuing restart, the field was getting stretched out. As drivers were battling for position, Blaney, Briscoe, and Suárez were three-wide coming down the frontstretch. Disaster.
For Kyle Larson, this could end his night early. He was a DNF in the Indianapolis 500 and could be facing a DNF tonight. Getting repairs in the garage, Larson will at best be multiple laps down.
This wreck started out bad, and then it got worse. The Coca-Cola 600 is not for the weak.
“No, I just saw smoke off of [Turn] 4 and I tried to get left through the infield, and I just didn’t get far enough left,” Larson said after leaving the infield care center. A day he will remember for all the wrong reasons.
Ryan Blaney, a Coke 600 winner in 2023, is also out of this race. Team Penske has not been doing well today. They have had issues across the board with speed, including Josh Berry and the Wood Brothers Racing 21 team. Chase Briscoe started on pole, and while he made it out relatively clean, he has not had that same speed most of the night.
Daniel Suárez and Justin Haley were both having good runs as well. Now they will have to wait for Nashville next week to try and get the same speed out of their cars.
Will Kyle Larson try the Double again?
So, what is the future for Kyle Larson and his Indy 500 hopes? The Double has proven to be incredibly difficult for him over the last two years for different reasons. The rain and weather ruined it last year. This season, the weather tried to ruin his day, but it was ultimately wrecks on the track that did him in.

After leaving the care center, Alan Cavanna of PRN asked him about future Double attempts. It’s tough to say either way for Larson.
“I think it would be fun. I don’t know, it’s been bad two years in a row … I’d love to run the Indy 500 again, but the Double is just so tough. Just a bummer I didn’t get to complete it.”
I hate to think that we won’t see Kyle Larson attempt the Double again. But I would understand if his sponsors and teams don’t want to deal with the expenses and logistics of it for a third year in a row.
This goes to show just how difficult the Double is. There is a reason why Tony Stewart is the only driver to complete all 1100 miles.
