Daniel Suárez excited for Andrés Pérez, other drivers ahead of NASCAR Mexico City weekend

Soon, Daniel Suárez and Andrés Pérez de Lara will head to Mexico City and race in their home country in NASCAR. Suárez is competing in the Cup Series and Xfinity Series. Meanwhile, Pérez will make his Xfinity debut with DGM Racing.
The Mexico City race weekend is a big deal for NASCAR and for racing in Mexico. There are a number of stock car racers in the country, in Central and South America, who would love nothing more than to qualify for one of the two races.
While Daniel Suárez wishes Cup drivers weren’t allowed in the race, that isn’t the case. He’s competing for JR Motorsports. But NASCAR has added a couple of international provisional spots in the Xfinity race.
“It’s huge, it’s huge. Honestly, I’m very excited for Andrés, and I hope – I was wishing more drivers were going to join months ago before they announced Cup drivers were going to be allowed to race Xfinity Series,’ Suárez said to 5GOATs in Nashville. “I was hoping that they were not going to allow Cup drivers. So, they need more opportunities for the drivers from Mexico to get the rides like mine, like the one that I got. But really, that wasn’t the case, and that’s fine.
“It’s just that, I feel like a lot of rides are already taken, right? And teams obviously, they’re gonna prefer to have me or somebody like Ty Gibbs or Christopher Bell than an unknown guy from Mexico or from Argentina or from Brazil. So, yeah, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun and a great opportunity for whoever is able to get a ride.”

Daniel Suárez raced in the NASCAR Brazil series last year. So, he knows how good the international drivers can be.
Daniel Suárez returning to Mexico for NASCAR weekend
The NASCAR weekend at Mexico City is going to be major for a lot of drivers. However, Daniel Suárez will have a particularly special homecoming. He spent years in Mexico trying to get a chance to move to the United States and chase his dreams of competing in NASCAR. Now, he returns a multi-race winner in the Cup Series and an Xfinity Series champion, as well as an American citizen.
There are a ton of drivers in Central and South America who want to follow Suárez’s path. Perhaps the race in Mexico City will give them that opportunity. Andrés Pérez is also returning to Mexico as an ARCA champion. He is also a full-time Truck Series driver at only 20 years old. A lot to be proud of for these two drivers.
Daniel Suárez wants more opportunities for international drivers. Maybe if there is a return to Mexico City next year, Cup Series drivers won’t be involved. If that is the case, it would be great to see drivers from Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and elsewhere get a chance in top equipment.
