Daniel Suárez vows revenge on Ross Chastain after spin at Sonoma Raceway

A little bit of teammate on teammate action today at Sonoma Raceway between Daniel Suárez and Ross Chastain. The two NASCAR drivers have been amigos for years, but Suárez is fuming mad and looking for retaliation after getting spun by Chastain.
Turn 11 is where these spins happen the most. Drivers try to get under each other to make a pass there. Maybe even put a little bump and run on someone to get to the front.
“Better hope I don’t get to him today,” Suárez said on the radio, via Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic. Not very amigo of him right now, but can you blame him?
We all know that Daniel Suárez will not return to Trackhouse Racing next season. So, maybe there is a little bit of bad blood going on. At the very least, Suárez knows that he doesn’t really have to answer to Chastain and Trackhouse moving forward.
The race at Sonoma has had a few drivers fuming mad. Spins have been common, even if caution flags have not really been necessary.
The Ross Chastain thing is tough. He slid in as Daniel Suárez was getting into Joey Logano. The three cars bunched up together, and someone was getting spun in that scenario.

Daniel Suárez is racing for himself now
With no plans for the 2026 season lined up, Daniel Suárez is fighting and racing for himself right now. There is no bigger team plan or project at this point. He has to prove every single race that he is worthy of being back in the Cup Series.
Now, where does Suárez go from here? I’m not sure. Honestly, if I’m Kaulig Racing, I bring Suárez in and move Ty Dillon out of the No. 10 car. At the very least, you more or less have another AJ Allmendinger-type driver who can win on road courses or earn a random win on an oval under the right circumstances.
In fact, I think Suárez would do very well at Kaulig. That all depends on what Kaulig’s plans are for 2026, sponsors, and the relationship that Dillon has at Kaulig.
Today, Daniel Suárez showed that he is not afraid to fight for himself. He will even go up against his own teammates to do it. In his situation, he has to be aggressive, and he can’t lay over. Whether his future is in Cup or the Xfinity Series, he has to prove to a team owner somewhere out there to take a chance on him.
