Data reveals NFL teams consume unfathomable amount of Uncrustables per season

Ever had a weak spot for Uncrustables, the delectable little snack that comes in a convenient package and offers the perfect amount of nutrition for a single sitting? Well, you are not alone.
According to an article published on Thursday in The Athletic, the NFL is a massive consumer of Uncrustables.
Surveying data from the 2023 season, The Athletic attempted to figure out exactly how many NFL teams actually eat. The results were shocking and eye-opening. Spoiler: It’s a lot.
By The Athletic’s count based on data provided by the league, NFL teams “easily go through at least 80,000 Uncrustables a year.”
The publication even broke down the consumption by week, to give you a better figure on how many each franchise consumes. The Denver Broncos checked in as a runaway winner, consuming about 700 of the tasty snacks per week. That was more than double the next-closest franchise.
The Athletic noted 24 of the 32 NFL teams provided approximate weekly ranges for the number of Uncrustables eaten.
Here’s another fun fact: The amount of the snack eaten each year by NFL teams would cover almost an entire red zone in surface area; about 18 yards by 53.3 yards total, or about 960 square yards.

Another fun fact: The NFL eats nearly the weight of three Travis Kelces in Uncrustables each week.
So why did the popular lunchtime snack become such a league favorite? Well, it’s a one-stop catch-all of sorts for nutrition that can be grabbed on the go and quickly consumed, making it both convenient and tasty.
Writes The Athletic:
“The bread and jelly give players quick carbohydrates. The peanut butter provides a little fat and a little protein. They’re easy to digest, convenient to eat and a comfort food that players love (though there is wide disagreement as to whether grape or strawberry is the better jelly flavor — the correct answer is strawberry).”
