Deion Sanders reveals Shedeur Sanders told him not to visit him at Browns training camp

Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders visited his son Shilo Sanders at Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp last week. To this point, he’s yet to make a trip to Cleveland to see his other son Shedeur Sanders.
That is by design, Deion Sanders told Michael Irvin. He revealed that Shedeur Sanders told him not to come visit him at training camp.
“Shedeur told me not to come,” Sanders said. “He didn’t want me to come. He was like, ‘Dad, I may get three, four reps in practice. I don’t want you seeing that. No, I’m not where I want to be. Let me get where I need to be.’ It’s so funny because this is his first time ever, and he’s dealing with it like a pro. He ain’t mad. He ain’t bitter. He’s like, I got work to do but I’m going to put in this work. One thing, they’re going to have to let me play, preseason is going to come. When preseason comes, watch me work.”
Sanders, selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, is one of four quarterbacks competing for the Browns’ starting job. The others are Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Kenny Pickett. The latter is dealing with a hamstring injury. Sanders has “seemingly been QB4 on the depth chart,” Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN reported this past Friday.

Shedeur Sanders addresses lack of first-team reps at training camp
According to Oyefusi, Sanders is the only quarterback who has not been seen taking reps with the first-team offense. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said the quarterback rotation would be fluid during the first week of training camp.
Sanders is not stressing. He’s controlling what he can control.
“I don’t think that’s my place to answer, to give the answer to that,” Sanders said. “I feel like that it’s not in my control, so I’m not going to think about that or even have that in my thought process of why it is. There’s a lot of people who want to have the opportunity to be at this level, and I’m here and I’m thankful to have the opportunity. So, whenever that is, that is.”
He added, “It doesn’t make me feel down or left out because I know who I am as a person. I know who I am as an individual and I know what I could bring to this team. So, I can never feel less than any circumstance.”
