Denny Hamlin was having some fun on social media during the NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta. On X/Twitter, Hamlin shared a photo of himself in his No. 11 Toyota in the middle of the race.

“Fun meter peaked,” Hamlin wrote. This came after Hamlin was involved in a major wreck. It was a big blow for the 44-year-old because he finished in the top three in his last three races. Hamlin fired off the post as his car was being worked on in the garage.

Outside of the wreck, the 2025 season has been a strong one for Denny Hamlin. In 16 races, Hamlin has earned three victories, nine top-10 finishes, eight top-five finishes and is third in overall Cup points.

The Atlanta race was the first of NASCAR’s In-Season Tournament. Hamlin entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed, but the wreck will likely cost him to advance.

Denny Hamlin talks about racing at a high level

After winning the Michigan race earlier this month, Hamlin spoke to reporters after still racing at a high level at age 44.  “I mean, it feels good. I’m so hung up on trying to get to a win total that I told you before I get really frustrated on the days that I feel like I had the car, I just didn’t have the execution or I made a mistake,” Hamlin said.

“It’s gratifying. I look at the names that have won multiple. I think Jeff Gordon has the most, right? It’s like these guys, I can’t hold their helmet back. They’re better than I am. I know they’re better than I am because I’ve raced against them.”

Hamlin continued, “It just feels good because I’m going to hate it when I’m not at the level I’m at now. I certainly will retire very, very quickly after that. I’m not going to hang around and do it just to do it. This is how I want to spend my last season, is like still winning, you know? I’m going to keep going.”
