Now we’re getting some short track racing! Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano have had their run-ins in the past, and have a new one now. It’s strange, the NASCAR Playoffs just make everyone on edge. Logano wrecked Ty Gibbs and for some reason, Hamlin was furious.

It isn’t often that drivers get mad for things that didn’t happen to them. However, Denny Hamlin was not happy with Joey Logano spinning out the rookie Ty Gibbs. Gibbs was second fastest in qualifying and was having a great top-5 performance today.

That was until Logano decided he had enough. Soon after the final stage began, Logano just put his bumper to the 54 and kept doing it until the car was out of his way and spinning.

Brad Keselowski and Daniel Suárez slammed into Gibbs after the spin.

According to The Athletic‘s Jordan Bianchi, Denny Hamlin was pissed on the radio.

“F***ing Joey [Logano], he’s a f***ing piece of sh** human.”

Again, it’s a little strange that Denny is mad here. I get it, Logano is driving aggressively and wrecked your teammate. But when did Hamlin give a dang about how Ty Gibbs was doing? It just strikes me as strange. Logano didn’t do anything to Hamlin (yet). Still, the 11 is not happy with the 22.

This was the fifth caution of the race, including the two stage breaks. Joey Logano and Austin Cindric are now behind Denny Hamlin on the restart, and perhaps that was the plan all along. Give Ryan Blaney help on the front row by pressuring Hamlin with Team Penske Ford Mustangs.

Denny Hamlin is driving for the win

While he can likely point his way into the Championship 4, Denny Hamlin doesn’t want to leave it up to chance. He’s going all out to find himself in victory lane. Ryan Blaney appears to be a little better than Hamlin right now. Then again, it could just be Hamlin waiting his time.

Coming into the race, it felt like it was a must-win position because that’s how Hamlin treated it. There has been nothing but a sixth Martinsville victory in front of a sold-out crowd on his mind all afternoon. I think he has to focus on himself and not worry about what Joey Logano is doing behind him.

As for Gibbs, this is a bad break. He’s had a good race all day and then he gets raced like that to basically end his day. It’s not a move that a championship driver should be making and Logano likely knows that.

We’ll see what Denny Hamlin and these other drivers have up their sleeves. It could be another thrilling end to Martinsville if we are lucky.
