One of the biggest questions about the 2026 NASCAR season is what will Denny Hamlin do with Corey Heim? The talented driver is signed to a deal with 23XI Racing and has made select Cup Series starts with moderate success. So, what’s going to happen next year?

While the plan for Corey Heim hasn’t been revealed yet, it is unlikely that he goes full-time Cup Series racing. In fact, he might not be full-time racing in any season. It could be a year of racing multiple series throughout NASCAR.

Of course, there is this entire antitrust lawsuit happening. It goes to trial on December 1 if there is no settlement prior to that, or summary judgment.

Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports asked Denny Hamlin about his talented prospect. Hamlin says that the trial will play a factor, but part of his schedule is already set and that shouldn’t change.

“Well, I mean, I think that obviously the outcome of December 1st will dictate a lot of things,” Hamlin explained. “Again, he’s a development driver for 23XI. Got races on his schedule as of right now and we don’t see any of that changing.”

Denny Hamlin has a bit of a problem at 23XI Racing. He has too many drivers for how many charters he’s allowed to have. And, unless he’s forced to by this lawsuit, he’s not going to run Open cars in 2026. Not full-time, at least. Heim will be in a part-time Open car for his select starts as he has done the last two seasons.

The lawsuit can really change things in the NASCAR world. That includes the trajectory of Corey Heim’s career.

Denny Hamlin steadfast in lawsuit battle

Throughout the entire lawsuit, Denny Hamlin has expressed a level of confidence that is typical for a professional athlete. Of course, Hamlin is a fairly brash and bold even for an athlete at the highest level. So, you expect that confidence.

This week, there are two major meetings happening regarding this lawsuit. Tomorrow, there is a settlement conference. Judge Bell is set to sit in on this mediation and make sure everything is being conducted fairly.

However, all eyes on are the summary judgment hearing on Thursday. That could change the direction of this lawsuit, and will likely set up certain facts that both sides will need to abide by in the trial.

Denny Hamlin remains confident. That might help win races, but will that win him a lawsuit?
