Things do not look great for Denny Hamlin right now as the NASCAR Playoff race at Kansas is coming to an end. Hamlin has dominated much of the afternoon. However, an issue with steering may be what derails his race today.

Denny Hamlin might have to fight his car to the finish. If he doesn’t have power steering, things get much more difficult for Hamlin and the 11 team. The veteran driver let his team know as he came to pit road in the final stage.

“There’s something wrong with the f***ing steering. It’s sticking bad,” Hamlin said on the radio, via Dustin Albino of Jayski.

Denny Hamlin didn’t stop there. “I don’t know what to do,” he said, via Kelly Crandall of RACER. “I can’t f***ing believe it.”

This race can go either way now for Denny Hamlin. Less than 50 laps in the race, and he has to manhandle his Toyota Camry. Let’s see if he can get it done.

Denny has led by far the most laps today. He is at 130+ and counting. Steering issues could end up being the problem that keeps him from winning. After he complained about the car, he held his own on the ensuing restart.

For now, with 34 laps to go in the race, Hamlin looks like he can hold out and win. But if that power steering completely fails, he’s going to be in a world of hurt when the rest of the field finally catches up.

If Denny Hamlin holds on to win, it would be a major statement. He has a win already in the NASCAR Playoffs this season. A win today would advance him to the Round of 8. From there, it would be just a few races separating him from the Championship 4.

As this run has continued, Hamlin has complained more about the car. Steering is starting to go out and there are only a few laps to go. Christopher Bell and Bubba Wallace are waiting in the wings to take this win and advance themselves in the playoffs.

Should Denny Hamlin hold on, it will be his most impressive performance of the season. We have a lot of laps to go for a driver with a car that is failing mechanically.
