Denny Hamlin offers hilarious 'endorsement' on US election day

On this election day, Denny Hamlin is seeking change — change he believes only one person can bring.
Hamlin took to social media Tuesday to officially offer his endorsement, though not for the 2024 United States presidential election. Instead, Hamlin is rocking with the 23XI Racing 45 team and Tyler Reddick in this Sunday’s Championship 4 race at Phoenix Raceway.
“I’m officially endorsing the 45 team this weekend,” Hamlin wrote on X. “While voting/rooting for whichever car represents you and your ideas, the 45 team most aligns with mine. Hopefully you join me in this quest for a new champion. It’s time for change. Let Tyler Reddick be that change.”

Hamlin clearly wants to see a new champion crowned. Since it won’t be him, the next best thing is getting a chance to hoist the trophy as a team owner. That’s at stake for Hamlin, the 23XI co-owner. A Reddick title would be the organization’s first in just its fourth year in the NASCAR Cup Series.

One could argue that Reddick is the favorite when you look at the tale of the tape between himself, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney and William Byron. Yes, Logano is a two-time champion and Blaney is the reigning winner, but Reddick won the regular season title. In addition to his three victories, Reddick has a 13.4 average finish in 2024, fifth among all drivers and second only to Byron in the Championship 4.
But outside of his victory at Homestead-Miami, Reddick has struggled this postseason. He has finished 20th or worse in six of nine playoff races. That has to change at Phoenix if he wants to become a Cup Series champion.
“It would mean the world [to win a championship for Michael Jordan],” Reddick said after his win at Homestead. “We thankfully can take off for Martinsville a little bit, get ready for Phoenix. But we’re pumped.”
