Denny Hamlin reacts to Ty Gibbs incident at New Hampshire playoff race

After finishing the Mobil 1 301, Denny Hamlin had to face up to the incident on the track with Ty Gibbs at New Hampshire. The two Joe Gibbs teammates got into each other on the track, and neither was happy. Hamlin was quick to move on from the situation.
On Monday, Joe Gibbs Racing is going to have its usual team meeting. Ty Gibbs and Denny Hamlin will have to speak to one another and figure out how to move on from this.
Gibbs was holding Hamlin up on the track. There is no doubt about that. They weren’t racing for the lead. Hamlin even gave a bump to the 54 at one point, without wrecking him. Then, the spin happened.
“Well, it’s super unfortunate. He got spun there, and obviously, contact came from us,” Hamlin said on USA. “But yeah, I don’t have any other comment other than that. Just had some contact into [Turn] 1, it was obviously a really rough race before that.”
Denny Hamlin was then asked if he will speak with Ty Gibbs. He kept it pretty short and simple once again.

“I mean, we’ll work through it and all but you know, just we’ll see how it goes,” he said. “Honestly, it, you know, it’s unfortunate the contact happened.”
This is going to be an internal issue. Joe Gibbs Racing keeps things quiet.
“Just a bad restart on my part. I just couldn’t get going on the bottom lane. Every time we started on the bottom just could not get anything going,” Hamlin said about his race. “So, ah, obviously, coughed up some positions there from where we probably would have finished. But yeah, just gotta get a little better. Certainly, we didn’t come here with our best. Gotta get a little faster, gotta get the car handling a little better, and I certainly gotta do a better job.”
To his credit, Ty Gibbs was pretty calm about the whole situation as well. He didn’t really give an answer when asked about the situation. He basically said it was “unfortunate” and he was looking forward to next week. So, who knows how this will manifest in the future?
JGR swept the races in the Round of 16. Today, they didn’t have as great of an afternoon on the track. Two drivers got into it. They largely lacked speed. So, it’s onto Kansas.
