The Denver Broncos have released receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey, according to a report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The move was made ahead of Tuesday’s deadline for all NFL teams to trim their roster down to 53 players.

Humphrey signed with the Broncos back in March after stints with the New Orleans Saints and the New England Patriots. He appeared in all three of the Broncos’ preseason games in 2023 to record eight catches for 113 yards.

Humphrey began his career with the Saints in 2019 after going undrafted following a three-year college career at Texas. His best pro season came in his third year with New Orleans in 2021. He appeared in 10 games to finish with 13 catches for 249 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

He signed a one-year deal with the Patriots that offseason and played in six games with two starts this past year. Humphrey has 18 catches for 315 yards and three TDs over his NFL career.

In college with the Longhorns, Humphrey broke out in his junior year to record 86 catches for 1,176 yards and nine touchdowns before making the jump to the NFL. He helped Texas to a 10-4 season and Sugar Bowl victory against Georgia in which he had seven catches for 67 yards.

In addition to Humphrey, Denver waived receiver Marquez Calloway and running back Tony Jones Jr. on Tuesday. They also released defensive back Fabian Moreau and nose tackle Mike Purcell to reach the 53-man roster requirement.

The Broncos open the regular season on Sept. 10 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
