Jerry Jeudy predicts big things ahead from loaded Denver Broncos receiving corps
The Sean Payton era has begun in Denver as the former longtime New Orleans Saints coach will look to turn things around for the Denver Broncos following a disappointing 5-12 finish last season.
Denver’s offense struggled last year, finishing the season as the lowest-scoring unit in the NFL averaging just 16.9 points per game. But according to star receiver Jerry Jeudy, that can all change this season given the team’s offensive firepower and Payton calling the shots.
“He’s a great offensive-minded guy, Jeudy said. “So him just putting players in the right position and just so they can be successful with different alignments, moving me around and stuff like that, and also just having the other guys around me that it’s hard to just focus on me, because we got KJ [Hamler], we got Court [Courtland Sutton], Tim Patrick, we got the running backs. … It’s going to be a lot of pieces that you have to focus on that he knows what to do with.”
Denver’s wide receiver room may seem like a loaded group that compliments each other well, with a variety of different body types and skillets. But unfortunately in recent history, injuries have hindered their ability to play alongside each other.
The trio Jeudy mentioned along with himself has only shared the field and played together two times in the last three years, with various injuries sidelining Denver wideouts in short-term and long-term situations.

But with Patrick slated to return this season following a torn ACL injury in 2022 and the rest of Denver’s wideouts fully healthy, Jeudy is optimistic that they’ll finally be able to reach their full potential as a unit this season.
“It means a lot. We haven’t been all on the same field in [how long], since my rookie year? So you know, it’s been a tough few years,” Jeudy admitted. “But having everybody on the field at the same time, it’s going to be big, because I know what we’re capable of, and they know what we’re capable of. So having everybody on the same field is going to be a hard group of guys to stop.”
Jeudy has led the Broncos in receiving yards in two of his last three seasons with the team, but there’s always room for improvement. The former Alabama standout is just 24 years old and regarded as one of the best route runners in the league, and apparently, Payton is already helping him further unlock those skills and improve as a player.
“He coaches me in every way he can,” Jeudy said. “Every little detail that he’s seen me mess up on, he gives me his opinion on it and thinking of ways for me to get better. I appreciate having a coach that’s that dedicated in really helping me to become the best player I can be.”
