The end is likely coming for Doug Pederson with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

At 4-12, the Jaguars had a significant drop off in 2024 compared to the last two seasons. In his third season in Jacksonville, Pederson’s only gone backwards since 2022.

But the Super Bowl-winning head coach acknowledged the reality, per Schefter.

“Doug Pederson, look, everybody’s heard the noise all year long waiting, he acknowledged this past week that he understands that today could very well be his last game, which certainly sounds like it will be the case,” Schefter said on SportsCenter. “He’s in his third season. He himself has said this has been his hardest season as an NFL coach, and it’s hard to be an NFL coach. We know that it’s been very hard for Doug Pederson. It’s been a very disappointing season, and I think the Jacksonville Jaguars will bring some closure to that whole situation here in the next couple of days.”

Pederson is 22-28 with the Jaguars going into Sunday’s final game against the Indianapolis Colts. In his first season, Pederson led Jacksonville to a 9-8 record and AFC South title.

The team knocked off the Los Angeles Chargers at home in the AFC Wild Card round 31-30, erasing a 27-0 deficit.

However, the Jaguars fell short to the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-20, in the Divisional Round.

Following an 8-3 start to the 2023 season, the Jaguars went 1-5 in their final six games, missing the playoffs.

Pederson is well known for his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, going 42-37-1 in five seasons. He led the Eagles to a 13-3 record in 2017, eventually winning Super Bowl LII, the first and only title in franchise history.

Pederson guided the Eagles to the playoffs the following two seasons, but couldn’t get past the Divisional Round. Following a disastrous 4-11-1 record in 2020, benching former franchise QB Carson Wentz and myriad injuries, the Eagles and Pederson eventually parted ways.

Should the Jaguars officially cut ties with the head coach, it remains to be seen if Pederson will get another head coaching gig for 2025 or go the coordinator route.

He reportedly spoke with the Seattle Seahawks about the OC gig going into the 2021 season, but opted to take a year off.

Pederson is 64-65-1 overall as a coach and 5-3 in the playoffs with a Super Bowl title.
