Eagles WR Tyrie Cleveland immobilized, carted off after neck injury

A scary moment unfolded in Philadelphia during Thursday night’s preseason game between the Eagles and Browns. Veteran receiver Tyrie Cleveland left the game on a stretcher in the third quarter.
Cleveland, in his fourth NFL season, fell hard and awkwardly while attempting to make a catch. The injury sustained was serious enough that medical personnel brought a stretcher onto the field.
After the play, Cleveland remained on his stomach until trainers rolled him onto the stretcher.
The former Florida star also had to be carted off the field. Several players took a knee while trainers attended Cleveland. As he was taken off the field, many wished him well.
Per the NFL Network broadcast, the injury was to Cleveland’s neck. The report also indicated Cleveland had movement in his extremities, a positive sign after such a frightening situation.
Thursday’s game marked the second preseason game for the Eagles and the third for the Browns.
Cleveland started his career with the Denver Broncos, selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In his career, he’s totaled eight catches for 91 yards and racked up 234 return yards.

Shortly after Ojomo left the contest, the Eagles released a statement. The defensive tackle suffered a neck injury on the play. Like Cleveland, he had movement in all of his extremities, a great sign.
Philadelphia selected Ojomo in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Texas. He spent five seasons in Austin before hearing his name called in the draft.
Ojomo appeared in 42 career games for the Longhorns from 2018-22. He totaled 95 tackles, including 13.5 for loss and five sacks.
Hopefully both Cleveland and Ojomo make full recoveries soon after such startling injuries.
Thursday’s game between the Eagles and Browns ended in an 18-18 tie. Philadelphia is 0-1-1 in the preseason while Cleveland is 1-1-1.
