It turns out that Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady does have some influence in the building. Brady is sitting in the coaches’ box for the Raiders’ Week 2 home contest against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night.

Brady was seen watching the game with a headset on. ESPN sideline reporter Peter Schrager revealed that Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, regularly talks with offensive coordinator Chip Kelly and the two “go through the game plan” together.

“We’ve got a special member of the Raiders’ ownership group here today and that is Tom Brady, who is in the house and in the coaches’ box tonight. I was wondering how much Brady really had an involvement with this team. We hear so much about how Brady as the owner. Chip Kelly told us that he talks to Brady two to three times a week,” Schrager said. “They go through film, they go through the game plan. Brady is a luxury for the coaches. Who else has an owner who’s actually been there and done that.”

Tom Brady’s appearance in Raiders coaches’ booth comes into question

Based on Schrager’s report, it would appear that Brady is seriously involved with the team. That, of course, raises questions about a conflict of interest with his broadcasting duties at FOX Sports.

The 2024 season was Brady’s first in the booth. As a result of his involvement with the Raiders, the NFL implemented the “Brady Rules,” restricting him from taking part in production meetings with teams. The league lifted those rules ahead of the 2025 season after temporarily lifting them for the Super Bowl earlier this year. Brady is still barred from team practices, per Andrew Marchand of The Athletic.

Brady, 48, is in the second year of his 10-year, $375 million contract with FOX Sports. He made his season debut in the Sept. 7 game between the Washington Commanders and the New York Giants. He was on the call alongside Kevin Burkhardt for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 2 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
