Brian Schottenheimer is the new head coach, and a first-time one at that, of America’s Team. Still, with what he’s already doing in Dallas, he looks to have already won over the Cowboys.

‘Get Up’ on Friday reacted to some comments from Schottenheimer at minicamp yesterday, saying Dallas was “gonna win” and the success that everyone in the franchise would feel from that. They all seemed to like the confidence, including Mike Tannenbaum, who says this is who Schottenheimer is.

“That’s Brian Schottenheimer. I worked with him for a while. I love him. And you can see why he has the job he has, which is he is confident, he’s relatable,” Tannenbaum said. “Look, Jerry Jones? I’m not sure, I mean I don’t know this, but you connect the dots. Obviously, Dak had to sign off on this hire and you can see why for obvious reasons. And, to me now, like, he’s laying out a plan, how they’re going to win, and what happens when they do.”

Dan Graziano agreed in thinking how a coach talking like Schottenheimer has at times could be great for a team. That, over nearly five months now leading the team, appears to have “vibes (that) are pretty high” for Dallas.

“Not just Dak Prescott, but I think a lot of players were excited about that hire. My understanding is it went over pretty well in the building, so he’s a guy that is very well-liked and well-respected by the players there,” Graziano said. “Obviously, he’s bringing some level of confidence to this that I’m sure they’re all feeding off of. So, it seems to me that the vibes are pretty high in Dallas right now.”

Schottenheimer has nearly a decade and a half of experience as an offensive coordinator in the NFL with the New York Jets, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and, most recently, the past two seasons, the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas, namely in 2023 with the No. 1 scoring offense at 29.9 per game, has had among the better offensive numbers in the league during that time, averaging 25.3 points on 350 total yards.

However, none of that, his resume or the ‘vibes’, are going to matter if the Cowboys can’t get back into contention. Dallas, over five years under Mike McCarthy, turned three finishes at 12-5 into just one playoff win, losing twice in the Wild Card and once in the Divisional Round in the NFC. The Cowboys then missed the postseason in his first and last years with the franchise, including last season at 7-10.

Results, specifically in the playoffs, are all that’ll matter when it comes to Dallas. That said, Schottenheimer sounds as though he has the Cowboys in the right and a positive headspace going into his first season there as head coach.
