Evan Engram injury update: Doug Pederson gives unfortunate news on Jaguars TE

Jacksonville Jaguars (3-10) head coach Doug Pederson announced Friday that tight end Evan Engram will undergo season-ending surgery for a torn labrum, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Engram, 30, did not practice this week before Pederson revealed the extent of his shoulder injury.
Engram appeared in nine games this season, hauling in 47 receptions for 365 yards and a score. Only rookie wideout Brian Thomas Jr. has had more production among Jaguars pass-catchers in 2024 (54 catches, 851 yards, six touchdowns).
With Engram sidelined for the last four games of the season, second-year tight end Brenton Strange will have ample opportunity to step in and fill the void. Strange is fifth on the Jaguars with 23 receptions, to go along with 256 yards and two touchdowns.

Jacksonville is already without quarterback Trevor Lawrence for the rest of the season, as the 25-year-old is undergoing season-ending surgery on the AC joint injury in his left shoulder. Lawrence also suffered a concussion in the Week 13 loss to the Houston Texans (8-5) on a late hit from Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.

Al-Shaair was ejected from the game and later suspended three games by the NFL. Engram was penalized for unnecessary roughness for retaliating against Al-Shaair and subsequently fined $11,255. Engram, a volunteer at the North Florida School of Special Education, supported the school in the Dec. 1 My Cause, My Cleats game against the Texans.
In the days after the game, Jaguars fans donated nearly $1,800 to the school, according to Michael DiRocco of ESPN. Engram chipped in an additional $8,200 to bring the total to $10,000. The school said it will use the money to create the “Evan Engram Scholarship.”
“Got a lot of tweets and a lot of mentions on social media about fans and people donating to the school, and honestly they’re donating for what happened on the field, but I probably assume they went and did their research and saw what they were investing in and helping out,” Engram said. “It’s a great cause. It’s a great place. They do great things every single day and any help is well appreciated.”
