Fan interrupts WNBA game by throwing sex toy on court during Golden State-Atlanta contest

A flying sex toy halted a WNBA game briefly on Tuesday night. The Golden State Valkyries were taking on the Atlanta Dream, with the game tightly contested late in the fourth quarter at the time of the incident.
Valkyries guard Tiffany Hayes hoisted a 3-point shot, and it was blocked by the Dream’s Maya Caldwell. As Golden State collected the rebound, a lime green object flew from the stands and hit harmlessly near the free-throw line.
It quickly flopped out of the way, and officials opted not to halt play right away. That would happen moments later.
“Hayes gets blocked by Maya Caldwell. Something flies on the court actually from the crowd,” an announcer calling the game said on the air. “The officials will say they will continue play as that goes off the fingertips of the Valkyries. And you can see the object, the block right there, the object comes, that green thing bounces and it goes to the sideline.”
The object, which turned out to be a lime green sex toy, sat near midcourt while a few arena officials came over to check it out. As noted by the announcers’ reactions, it wasn’t clear what it was at first.

Luckily, the throw from the stands didn’t hit any players. No one was worse for the wear.
“We’re not exactly sure where it came from,” one announcer said. “No room for any of that type of activity.”
At that point, the camera panned over to midcourt on the sideline where the object was resting. A closer-in shot revealed it was a lime green sex toy, taking the other announcer by surprise.
Her reaction was immediate on the air. She started:
“And no one’s picked the object up yet… oh my gosh. OK,” she said. “OK. Inappropriate. Get ’em out of here, whoever it is.”
The Valykries were tied with the Dream 75-75 at the time of the incident. After play resumed, Golden State would go on to get the game-winner on a pull-up jumper by Cecilia Zandalasini, taking home the 77-75 victory. And a funny story about a flying sex toy, to boot.
