FDNY Racing is shutting down rumors of Corey LaJoie joining the team for the 2025 NASCAR season. In response to a report from Essentially Sports, FDNY Racing went to X to assure everyone that LaJoie will not drive the No. 28 truck next season. In the post, FDNY shared a GIF of Randy Jackson and the caption “Yeah, that’s gonna be a no for me dawg.” And above the GIF, FDNY wrote “Nice try though.”

FDNY competes in the NASCAR Truck Series, and Bryan Dauzat drives the No. 28 Chevrolet Silverado. The team competes in the Truck Series part-time, so for LaJoie to compete for FDNY Racing would be an interesting move.

The rumor comes after LaJoie commented on his future in NASCAR after announcing he’s leaving Spire Motorsports after the 2024 Cup Series season ends. “I am super appreciative of where I’m at in life financially with my career,” LaJoie said on Stacking Pennies. “It went way different than I ever expected it. Also, it’s never been easy. My entire NASCAR career has not went how I thought it was going to go. So why would I expect anything different, right? Every single plan that I thought I was going to make, it went differently.

“The thing that I’ve been kind of clinging on to the last week or so, and we can get into it, there’s just that Proverbs 16:9. It’s been pinned to my X profile for almost 10 years now. ‘The man can plan his path, but the Lord determines his steps.’ I don’t know what the next step is.”

Corey LaJoie was hoping to ‘see it through’ with Spire Motorsports

LaJoie, who has yet to win a race in NASCAR’s National Series, was hoping to see things through with Spire Motorsports, especially with the addition of Rodney Childers as the crew chief for the No. 7 car. “I do hate that we weren’t able to see it through; we weren’t able to kind of adjust the [No.] 7 team and kind of turn the right knobs to get performance where we needed it,” LaJoie said, per NASCAR.com. “Also, I made too many mistakes behind the wheel this year. There were several that took us out of contention for some good results.”

LaJoie, 32, has just one top-10 finish this season which happened at the start of the year when he placed fourth at the Daytona 500. In his Cup Series career, LaJoie has finish no better than 25th in the final standings.
