Final X 2025: Trent Hidlay takes Match 1 over Josh Barr with chippy ending

Trent Hidlay and Josh Barr squared off for the 92 KG spot for Team USA at Final X Saturday, with Hidlay winning 6-1 in Match 1. The former NC State star and the 2025 Penn State NCAA finalist were getting after it, to say the least.
Hidlay’s always been a physical wrestler and Barr wasn’t afraid to give it back. The two got a little chippy at the end of the match with Hidlay clapping emphatically with four seconds left.
The good news for the fans is these two will wrestle again Saturday, with Barr needing two wins to represent the USA at the World Championships this year. You can see the ending sequence below.
The results up through Hidlay and Barr’s matches can be seen below. Two wins are needed in the final to win the starting job in each weight class for Team USA, men and women.
